Dan Cabisada is no stranger to Cebuanos. Better known as Papa Dan, his is a household name for any household with a radio – that is to say, all households across the region. Dan Cabisada is former radio DJ and is now an events host and voice-over artist. As a radio DJ, his voice rocked regional radio stations such as GMA Cagayan De Oro Barangay 100.7 and GMA Cebu Barangay RT 99.5, earning him a spot in the list of Metro Cebu’s Top Ten Favorite Radio DJs. In 2007, he was chosen to be the official TV voice-over artist of GMA Regional TV in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan De Oro, and General Santos. He’s also enjoyed some screen time with TV stints on some GMA Regional TV shows, such as Buena Mano, an Eastern Visayas news program, and Oi! Show Nato Ni!, a Cebuano variety show. He’s also made an impact on the national level, with a guesting on GMA Network’s Eat Bulaga!, the country’s longest-running noontime show, and a stint during the 29th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in 2003.
He graduated from the Ateneo De Cagayan in 2005 with a degree in Sociology and Anthropology and two years of experience already under his belt. Aside from the GMA Network, where he stayed for seven years, he also worked with Home Radio and 107.5 Win Radio. Papa Dan is a professional in every sense of the word. His skills have been honed by thirteen years of experience in media, giving him an edge above other hosts and voice-over artists.
“I strongly believe that broadcast experience hones the caliber of an emcee, thus making him legit,” says Cabisada. “
One can only be called professional if he came from media; therefore, clients or organizers can trust the expertise of a radio DJ when it comes to handling any event. My versatility to do different roles, from event hosting to live voice-over, sets me apart from others.” The ability to think on the fly is important for any host or voice-over artist. Because he is so flexible and versatile, Dan Cabisada can read the crowd of any event that he hosts and portray a different persona, one that would be most appropriate for the event and most appealing for its attendees.
“There is an apt hosting style, approach, and technique to a particular audience in order to connect,” says Cabisada. “
Others can only do formal occasions, but not corporate function[s] or barangay activation[s]. I also possess a very important skill a good host must have, which is being good crowd reader. Knowing the crowd to be presented is crucial in conveying the event’s agenda.” From swanky formal dinners to rowdy barangay fiestas, Papa Dan can do it all, everywhere! Language won’t be a barrier since he can deliver spiels and speeches in English, Tagalog, and Bisaya. Everything that Papa Dan does, he does well. “Excellence of execution is what I assure my clients,” he says, and delivers accordingly.
